Saturday, August 15th, 439 souls were fed at Helping Hands. We had plenty of volunteers who were there to offer support, load boxes, and provide hospitality. The sanctuary was opened for guests to have communion if they wished, or sit in quiet prayer or contemplation.
A prayer was offered and many conversations were had about life, family, our community, and of course individual problems needing solutions.
We continue to show up. Funding gets cut, we’re still there. Numbers increase as more and more need help, we’re still there. Food scarcity becomes intertwined with housing shortages, addiction, and other seemingly insurmountable problems…we are still there, serving community, loving our neighbors, and being a force for good in what can be a dark world.
We believe one person matters. Although we serve hundreds each week, if we had only helped ONE it would still be worth it.
Please help. As safety nets continue to be cut, our neighbors need us now more than ever.
