Feel Good Friday: More Than a Bag of Groceries
Sometimes helping looks like a bag of food or a warm meal. And sometimes it looks like showing up for someone, and staying.
At Helping Hands, we have the privilege of walking alongside some of our community’s most vulnerable neighbors—not just for a day, but through some of the hardest chapters of their lives.
We help make phone calls. We connect people with resources. We work with community partners to find housing. We encourage someone who is ready to give up. We celebrate the new job, the apartment key, the first stable week, the small step that took enormous courage.
This is what accompaniment means to us.
It means saying: You don’t have to figure everything out alone. We’ll walk with you. And that kind of work takes time. It takes patience. It takes relationships. It takes a community willing to keep showing up.
So this Feel Good Friday, we’re asking you to think about giving to Helping Hands in a slightly different way.
Your donation doesn’t just help us give someone something.
It helps us walk alongside someone.
It gives us the ability to be present when a neighbor is hungry, when housing feels impossible, when life has become overwhelming—and to keep believing with them that something better is possible.
Sometimes change happens quickly.
More often, it happens one relationship, one phone call, one meal, one opportunity, and one hopeful step at a time.
Thank you for helping us stay for the journey.
Because everyone deserves more than help getting through today.
Everyone deserves someone who believes in their tomorrow. ![]()
Please help. We can’t do this alone. So far we have helped six people HOME—people who would have been on the street. And we’re continuing to feed hundreds of neighbors each and every week.
